Restaurants are at the heart of the Valley’s small business community. Many have had to make hard decisions about reducing staff, and are continuing to work hard to make great food accessible and easy during this stressful time! We’ve asked them for sponsorship and donations for community events over the years and even in these difficult times many are continuing to give back to essential workers keeping our community safe.

Here are some simple ways to give back without leaving your couch!

Ways To Support Local

  • Order take out curbside or delivery!
  • Post a review on social media or tell a friend about your positive experience!
  • Purchase & donate food to first responders, healthcare workers or other essential workers who are on duty.
  • Purchase gift cards for future visits
  • Make a contribution to the CT hospitality Employee Relief Fund
  • Follow on Social Media: Share and help get the word out to others!

We know for many their financial situations have changed, so if you are unable to order out at this time, you can still help spread the word on social media.

Join the movement of the Great American Takeout on Tuesdaysduring COVID-19 and order take out! Over 75 food establishments are open right here in the Valley! Follow the below links to lists of establishments still open compiled by town.

Check out this list of all CT Breweries (compiled by CT Bites) still open and serving their beer to go!

You may also be able to still get your favorite beverage with your to-go order since Governor Lamont issued an Executive Order on March 19th allowing establishments to sell alcohol with take-out orders!

Tipping Etiquette

If you are having your food delivered and it is no contact delivery (pay by credit card/food left at the door), please make sure you include a tip! While many places are waiving their delivery fees, those that are delivering are putting themselves at a higher risk just being out. Wondering how much you should tip? If you can,tip 15-20% as if you were sitting down at the establishment receiving service. If you can tip more, please consider it! When ordering see if the establishment is offering delivery directly before ordering through an app like GrubHub, UberEats, or DoorDash.
